German FA confirm 10 positive coronavirus results from Bundesliga and second-tier clubs

Ten individuals connected to the 36 clubs in the top two tiers of German football have tested positive for coronavirus.

A statement from the German football league (DFL) on Monday confirmed the news, and said the individuals had been isolated.

In total 1,724 tests were carried out at the 36 clubs since last Thursday, with a second wave of tests to be conducted this week, the DFL said.

The Bundesliga is working towards a resumption of action at some stage this month.

Clubs returned to training last month, with Bayern Munich getting back up to speed since April 6.

"The corresponding measures, for example the isolation of the affected persons, were taken directly by the respective clubs according to the specifications of the local health authorities," the statement added.

The German top flight has been on hold since March 13, Bayern holding a four-point lead over Borussia Dortmund at the top.
