It didn’t take long for Cincinnati Bengals rookie linebacker Germaine Pratt to turn some heads in training camp and gain some national attention at the same time.
Pratt, after making the biggest play of Family DEY and getting praised by his teammates, is listed as one of the most intriguing rookies to watch this preseason by Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar:
Perhaps Pratt lasted until the third round because teams couldn’t get a handle on his primary attribute, but I think the Bengals could be rewarded with a Jamie Collins-type player with this particular pick.
It’s hard not to like a Jamie Collins comparison at the same time for Pratt, a former safety who shined as a linebacker last year before falling to the mid-rounds of the draft.
Quietly, Pratt has already started calling the plays for the second-team defense, so it might not be long before he’s supplanting Jordan Evans for a big chunk of the rotation.
