Geri Halliwell-Horner received the “best birthday present ever” as Meryl Streep sang to her for her 54th birthday.

The Spice Girls star has joined the cast of Only Murders In The Building for its sixth season, which is set in London.

The singer shared a video of her co-star Meryl Streep giving her a hug and singing her own rendition of Happy Birthday, before she gave Halliwell-Horner a kiss on the cheek.

Halliwell-Horner captioned the video: “The best birthday present ever.

“Spending my birthday with the extraordinary Meryl Streep was a moment I’ll always treasure. Thank you @OnlyMurdersHulu for making it so special.”

Halliwell-Horner also received birthday messages from her fellow Spice Girls, Lady Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton.

The singer’s husband, Christian Horner, to whom she has been married for more than a decade, shared a sweet selfie with her as he joined the well-wishers.

“Happy Birthday @GeriHalliwellHorner. Have an amazing day and another lap around the sun,” the former racing driver wrote. “We all love you very much x.”

Halliwell-Horner will appear in the upcoming season of Only Murders In The Building alongside fellow newcomers Simone Ashley, Jennifer Saunders and Sir Derek Jacobi.

The season will follow show leads Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) as they investigate the death of true crime podcaster Cinda Channing (Tina Fey).

Streep will reprise her role as Oliver’s wife, Loretta Durkin.

Halliwell-Horner rose to international fame with the Spice Girls after the release of their debut single Wannabe in 1996.

She famously quit the girl group in 1998, citing “differences between us”, and in December 2000 the rest of the group went their separate ways, announcing an indefinite hiatus.

They reunited in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Summer Olympics and in 2019 for their Spice World tour.
