Gerard Pique makes public confession about new girlfriend after Shakira split

Gerard Pique has referred to Clara Chia as his girlfriend publicly for the first time and admitted she wears the trousers.

The former Barcelona defender confessed he was putty in the 23-year-old’s hands as he showed off the clothes he was wearing during an on-air chat with Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos ahead of his new football competition the King’s League. Ibai asked him if he looked at fashion magazines to keep up with trends as the retired footballer showed off his attire during a streaming session.

Pique, who last month posted his first photo with Clara on his Instagram following his split from ex-partner Shakira, replied: “The truth is I go with my girlfriend to the shops and she buys them for me” before adding: “I’m a puppet.”

The 36-year-old dad-of-two admitted Barcelona-born Clara had become his stylist as well as his new love after the couple were last week filmed walking through the streets of the Catalan capital together. It marked a further progression in their relationship following their decision to officialise their romance with the Instagram snap.

Pique’s lawyer recently praised the retired footballer and singer-songwriter ex Shakira for showing “great intelligence” in the way they resolved their split. The pair spared their two kids a damaging legal battle by confirming last November they had penned a child custody agreement after protected negotiations and signing the accord at a Barcelona court the following month.

The couple are anything but good friends after Shakira fired poisoned darts at former Barcelona star Pique and his new love Clara Chia in a revenge song released last month.

But veteran family lawyer Ramon Tamborero, who represented the ex-footballer in his negotiations with the Colombian artist, insisted: “They have made a great effort for the good of their children, making sure they weren’t the protagonists. Both of them have shown great intelligence.”

In a surprise interview with respected Catalan daily La Vanguardia, the 74-year-old father-of-two admitted of the talks that resulted in the agreement: “It required seven months of negotiations. The agreement was complex and required preparatory meetings. And the decisive reunion before the signing lasted 13 hours.”

Asked about the purpose of so much dialogue, he made it clear he believed an agreement worked out between two former partners was a better option than a custody trial and a judge’s ruling by replying: “A bad agreement is better than a good sentence.”

Mr Tamborero hinted he had urged Pique to carry on talking to Shakira by telling the newspaper: “I always tell my clients: once you’ve signed your divorce agreement I advise you to put it in a draw and dialogue.”

Pique recently admitted Shakira was the most famous person outside the world of football he had as a contact. In a YouTube interview he said: “I would say Shakira, probably, who was my partner.

“I’m thinking of Instagram followers and yes, I would say Shakira for that reason. That’s if it’s not related to football, because I think Cristiano Ronaldo is the person with the most Instagram followers in the world right now.”
