Gerard Nash front runner to take over as St Pat's boss

Gerard Nash is the front runner to succeed Harry Kenny as St Patrick's Athletic boss.

Mirror Sport understands the Dubliner, 33, was in talks with the Inchicore outfit yesterday and is interested although club sources insist no deal has been struck as yet.

Nash is the current Ipswich Town Under-23 manager having been promoted from their Under-18 ranks.

A former Ipswich, Hartlepool and Southend player, he was in contention for the Saints job last year after long-serving Liam Buckley stepped down.

Kenny got the job instead but he resigned last Saturday following a 3-1 FAI Cup second round defeat to UCD.

UCD had just parted company with manager Collie O'Neill after eight years with the club and four years at the helm following a 10-1 defeat to Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
