Truth is stranger than fiction, but could fiction be stronger than truth? Geraldine Brooks and Mark Colvin are both well versed in reporting the facts, but in a world obsessed by stories, they consider where to look for truth and what role literature plays.
Across two decades, Geraldine Brooks has worked as a foreign correspondent, authored non-fiction books and Pulitzer prize-winning fiction. Her work stretches from geopolitics and environmentalism to personal stories of converting to Judaism. Veteran ABC broadcaster Mark Colvin has reported on the American hostage crisis in Tehran, the Cambodian peace process and the Ethiopian famine. Their talk will be part of The Interrobang: a festival of questions.
