Gerald McCoy leaves Cleveland without signing a contract

Gerald McCoy’s much-hyped free agent visit with the Cleveland Browns took place on Friday. And despite the best efforts of GM John Dorsey and several coaches who met with the coveted defensive tackle, it will not be McCoy’s last visit as he searches for a new team.

McCoy left Cleveland without signing a contract. The former Buccaneer is apparently content to bide his time and check out more options.

That includes a scheduled visit with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, according to a report from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. The Indianapolis Colts have also expressed serious interest in signing the 6-time Pro Bowler.

McCoy not signing on Friday should not be interpreted as a failure on the Browns’ part. This is the first time McCoy has had a chance to shop his talents on the open market, and he is taking full advantage. The Browns remain firmly in contention, but there’s nothing wrong with McCoy wanting to explore his options and get shown some love.
