Gerald McCoy leaves Browns visit without deal, Ravens up next

The Gerald McCoy free-agency tour will continue next week after the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star left the Cleveland Browns without a deal and next turns his attention toward the Baltimore Ravens.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com provided the update: “Gerald McCoy’s visit with the Browns went ‘great’ and they tried to sign him before he left town Friday, but he’ll honor a commitment to visit the Ravens on Tuesday, a league source said.”

Cabot notes McCoy will visit the Ravens on Tuesday and that the Bengals still have an interest, too. A prior report said McCoy views the Bengals as a rising team.

But the competition is clearly thick. McCoy is said to like Cleveland’s defensive front with Myles Garrett, Oliver Vernon and Sheldon Richardson and likes that Baltimore was the top overall defense. Cincinnati will have to open up the checkbook to be competitive in this race.

While the report does say McCoy could take a third visit, Cincinnati’s rivals will do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen.
