Gerald McCoy had to miss his son’s senior night, but his former Bucs teammates showed up

Defensive end Gerald McCoy earned six Pro Bowl selections and was a three-time first-team All-Pro player for the Tampa Bay Bucs, but McCoy landed with the Panthers this season after being released by Tampa Bay in May. Earlier this year, McCoy terrorized his old team, racking up 2.5 sacks in Carolina’s win in London.

McCoy and the Panthers play the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday, and due to travel arrangements, McCoy was forced to miss his son’s Senior Night game in Tampa on Friday night. McCoy’s son, Tampa Catholic wide receiver Marcellus Crutchfield, had plenty of support on the sidelines, however – from McCoy’s former Buccaneers teammates.

McCoy shared a message he received from Bucs linebacker Lavonte David, who attended the game with Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and Donovan Smith.

“What’s up G? It’s your boys. Here man, supporting you, supporting Marcellus. We know you couldn’t be here. I know this is a big one for you. We wanted to be here to represent for you, man, let you know that we love you. We always appreciate you, we always part of the family.”

Tampa Catholic won the game, 28-8.
