Gerald McCoy exits Browns visit without a contract

It remains to be seen if the Indianapolis Colts will be a stop on the tour, but free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy completed his visit with the Cleveland Browns without a deal in place.

The hottest free agent on the market, McCoy reportedly left the visit with the Browns and will be meeting with the Baltimore Ravens next, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“Gerald McCoy’s visit with the Browns went “great” and they tried to sign him before he left town Friday, but he’ll honor a commitment to visit the Ravens on Tuesday, a league source said.”

The Colts have been a team said to have interest in McCoy, who was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after nine seasons. However, it isn’t clear if Indy is willing to be the top spender for the 31-year-old.

There are some reports that McCoy has received offers from 10 teams with some being as high as $11 million per year. Where the Colts stand on that front isn’t clear.

The Colts are likely one of the best destinations for the veteran McCoy in terms of scheme fit, locker room situation and being a winning team.

Whether that’s enough to draw McCoy to the Colts remains to be seen, but the free agency tour will continue on following the visit with the Browns.
