After four years of sharing the tight end position with Tyler Higbee in Los Angeles, Gerald Everett has found a new home. According to Ian Rapoport, Everett has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
It’s worth up to $7 million and includes $6 million guaranteed.
Everett was drafted by the Rams in the second round of the 2017 draft, the first selection made by the team with Sean McVay as its head coach. Though he was often viewed as a breakout candidate, Everett never truly took the desired “next step” in Los Angeles.
In four seasons, he caught 127 passes for 1,389 yards and eight touchdowns, picking up 70 first downs in 61 games played. He only started 11 games, however, and had a catch rate of 62.3%.
Everett has the potential to be a top tight end in the NFL, but his hands were far from steady last season. He dropped seven passes on 62 targets, a rate of 11.3%. In the previous two seasons, though, he had zero drops combined.
