Georgios Giakoumakis set for Celtic transfer decision 'really soon' as he confirms offers on the table

Celtic target Georgios Giakoumakis has confirmed he'll make a decision on his future "very soon".

The Greek hitman, nicknamed 'Jako' at current club VVV-Venlo, was the Eredivisie's top scorer last season with 26 goals.

He's out of contract next season though and a report from the Daily Record has claimed Celtic are in talks to sign him for less than £3m.

VVV director of football Stan Valckx commented on the speculation, saying: “We still assume Jako will be sold soon for the amount we have in mind.

“It has gotten noisier in the last few weeks, we are getting more and more calls.”

And the striker himself has now opened up on his future after a call from Ange Postecoglou, who spoke with him in his native Greek, confirmed interest from Parkhead.

"I don't know the future but there is a little bit of pressure now," he told VVV's official YouTube channel.

"I have some proposals in my head that I have to think, I have to take a decision and I think this will end up really soon.

"Of course, we are in the last days of the transfer window, I have to decide.

"I have to decide and choose one option which I have in my hands."

He wasn't confirming exactly what options he had on the table - hinting at 'two or three' offers he is considering.

But a move to the Scottish Premiership is likely to be in his thinking, especially if Celtic can advance to the group stage of the Europa League with a win over AZ Alkmaar.

He went on: "First of all, there are some markets that are open after the end of August, two or three markets that I'm really interested in.

"But I hope, for the good of the team, and, of course, for my own good that I will not be here.

"I will watch VVV from wherever I am, this team will always be in my heart, I will always be a fan.

"I wish I have a chance to come in the future and watch some games."
