Georginio Wijnaldum has slammed Jordan Pickford for his "stupid" tackle on Virgil van Dijk, and says the Everton keeper "didn't care".
Liverpool centre-back Van Dijk injured his ACL in a challenge with Pickford in the Merseyside derby this weekend.
Van Dijk is facing up to nine months on the sidelines and will need surgery on his knee.
Wijnaldumm spoke to the press on Tuesday afternoon, where he admitted the Liverpool dressing room is "devastated" by the news.
The Holland international also took aim at Pickford and Everton, slamming the keeper's conduct and claiming the Toffees took things too far at Goodison Park.
"In my opinion [Pickford's tackle] was stupid," said Wijnaldum.
"I believe he did not want to injure Virgil but the way that he went into it, he didn't care what happened after. I think we have had it a lot in games against Everton.
"They take it way too far. This was too much."
On the mood in the Liverpool dressing room, he added: "This was different than normal," said Wijnaldum. "The way it happened was really hard for us, and everyone still has a really bad feeling about it.
"None of the players slept. It's a hard one to take and it was a hard one for the team."
