Georginio Wijnaldum sends message to Liverpool fans with latest home workout

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is doing his best to make sure he's in top shape for when the Premier League returns - whenever that may be.

England's top flight is currently suspended indefinitely owing to the coronavirus outbreak, with June being suggested as a possible return to action.

Training grounds have also been shut down, leaving footballers to have to work out at home in order to stay at the top of their game during the shutdown.

Several clubs, including Tottenham, have been hosting 'virtual training sessions' through video conferencing app Zoom in order to keep an eye on their stars.

However, most are also undertaking individual workouts to keep their fitness at an optimum level and Reds midfielder Wijnaldum is no exception.

The Dutch international has been regularly uploading training clips to his Instagram account during the suspension and his latest came with a message.

The former Newcastle man uploaded three clips in the post: one of him with a kettle bell, one with an exercise ball and a third of him lifting a weight above his head.

The 29-year-old captioned the post: "#StayHome stay fit. The grind doesn't stop", followed by the bicep emoji.

That message will no doubt please Liverpool fans, with many sure to be delighted that one of their key players is not letting their standards slip during the lockdown.

Wijnaldum's post came on the same day UEFA president Aleksandr Ceferin told the Slovenian publication Ekipa that he could see no way that Liverpool could finish the season without the Premier League title.

Ceferin spoke out about his belief there should be no option to make the season null and void if it cannot continue, but also reiterated his hope campaigns would be played to a conclusion.

"If it could not be played, it would also be necessary to announce the results in some way and find some key on how the champions should be determined.

"And, of course, again I do not see a scenario in which that would not be Liverpool."
