ATHENS, Ga. _ Georgia picked a good time to break its four-game losing streak. That the Bulldogs did it against No. 13 Auburn made it all the more satisfying.
Anthony Edwards made a 3-pointer from the wing to slow a late run by the Tigers, and then fellow freshman Toumani Camara closed out the game from the foul line to give the Bulldogs a 65-55 victory.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Georgia and a five-game losing streak to Auburn. The Tigers (22-4, 9-4) also lost at Missouri this past Saturday. They're playing without freshman Isaac Okoro of Powder Springs, their No. 2 scorer.
With 18 points, Edwards led four Bulldogs who scored in double figures. Rayshaun Hammonds and Sahvir Wheeler had 13 each and Camara had 12 points, 10 of them coming on 12 fouls shots. Camara also had eight rebounds and three steals.
Senior guard J'von McCormick led the Tigers with 22 points and Samir Doughty added 15.
Auburn got within 58-53 with 1:01 to play on Doughty's three-point play. After a couple of failed attempts to get the ball inbounded, Camara was fouled. The 6-8 freshman from Brussels, Belgium, stepped up and made both.
Already buzzing with excitement, the sellout crowd of 10,000-plus exploded when Edwards blocked McCormick's 3-point attempt with a line drive out of bounds. Edwards screamed toward the roof and ran toward the Georgia student section in celebration after the final horn.
It was far from a perfect night for Edwards. He had seven turnovers and seven missed 3-pointers.
