Georgia Toffolo has been released from airport detention after nine hours - claiming the UK government helped her swerve prison.
Reality star Toff claimed the government intervened so she could have a Christmas on the islands, which boast luxury resorts and white sand beaches.
The I'm A Celebrity winner was seen weeping and begging for help five hours ago, claiming she was facing a festive season behind bars after two pages of her passport were found to be missing.
In a lengthy statement she wrote of her relief: "I am typing this having just been released from immigration detention! I can’t quite believe it.

"I was genuinely trying to come to terms with spending the next... however long... in an immigration detention centre.
"Thank you so much to everyone who helped me. If I hadn’t posted online I would 100% still be stuck without my passport!
"This scares me because it is such a privilege to have a following on social media - people can hear me.
"What if I didn’t have a social media following? I can’t bear to think of another girl in the situation I found myself in where no one can hear you.

"Extremely grateful that the British government worked with Maldivian representatives. Pushed by the UK press too (so epic thank you!) Also thank you to Maldivian immigration for letting me in to your beautiful country!
"In spite of me crying for 9 hours and scaring everyone at the airport, I made some lovely friends (the group of 7 airport guys that didn’t leave me while I was wailing) on reflection they couldn’t leave me, because I was being detained.
"But still they were kind. They ran me through the best bits of the potential prison I was almost spending Christmas in, every cloud etc!
"I even had a laugh with the immigration officers in the end. Oddly excited for the reunion when I leave.
"Please everyone check your passports I didn’t realise that 2 pages had fallen out of the centre. SO SO traumatised but grateful thank you thank you thank you.
"Toff’s Christmas is back on. On that note wonder what I would have got on Christmas Day in the detention centre?"Trying to make light of it but it was a really horrible experience."

The reality star's dream Christmas break quickly turned into a nightmare with a weeping Toff screaming to her Instagram followers: "How is this even legal?"
Long term mate of the PM's dad Stanely Johnson, Toff had been documenting her journey to the luxury resort.
She had detailed her first leg into Zurich, a Champagne lunch, the movie she'd watched and even tagged her outfit before hell broke loose and a distraught Toff took to her socials to beg for help.
The British Ambassador to the Maldives waded into the fiasco on Twitter and reassured Toff help was being provided.

Caron Rohsler responded to the reality star's cries for help, saying: “Consular assistance is being provided & I am confident you will soon be enjoying all the delights that Maldives has to offer. PM me if you need more info.” [sic]
Luke James replied: “This is why Twitter is amazing.”
Caron responded with some words of advice for anyone in a similar situation: “True, although diplomats don’t spend all day on Twitter, so it’s best to check our @FCOtravel advice and to make a note of our 24h global response number 020 7008 1500.
“Staff there will find you the nearest local assistance wherever you are.”

Holiday hopefuls can be blocked from entering a country if their passport is damaged - including if pages are missing.
Other reasons include a passport not being in a condition to be accepted as a proof of identity.
This could mean there is an ink spillage on a page, water damage, a hole punch, indecipherable personal details or discolouration to the bio-data page.
