Georgia teen suspect in Apalachee High School shooting has plea and sentencing hearing scheduled

  • A plea and sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 24 for Colt Gray, a 16-year-old accused of a mass shooting at Apalachee High School in September 2024.
  • Gray, who was 14 at the time of the incident, pleaded not guilty to 55 charges, including murder, after four people were killed and several others wounded.
  • The judge filed a "Non-Negotiated Plea and Sentencing Hearing," indicating the state and defense have not agreed on a sentence, leaving the decision to the judge.
  • Investigators testified that Gray carefully plotted the attack, carrying the rifle onto a school bus and leaving a notebook with detailed instructions and casualty estimates.
  • Colt Gray's father, Colin Gray, was convicted in March for providing his son with the assault-style rifle used in the shooting and is awaiting sentencing.
