Georgia Tech (0-1) vs. USF (0-1) Game Preview
Why Georgia Tech Will Win
After playing Clemson, USF is going to look like it’s running in mud.
The Bulls are fast, but they aren’t going to bring any power. New offensive coordinator Kerwin Bell might like to run a bit, but the O is about getting the passing game working and getting the tempo going.
Clemson might have wiped out the Yellow Jackets, but Trevor Lawrence and the passing game weren’t sharp. He threw two picks and only completed 13-of-23 passes. USF’s passing game stumbled and bobbled plays time and again throughout the loss to Wisconsin – there isn’t too much of a ground game to worry about.
We still don’t quite know what Georgia Tech is under head coach Geoff Collins, but it’s about to find a whole lot more room to move this week. But …
Why USF Will Win
USF is a whole lot better than it played against Wisconsin – the Badgers might just be that good.
The offense got shut out, and the running game went nowhere, but there were moments when Blake Barnett and the passing attack could’ve made things a wee bit interesting early on. He finished 13-of-30 for 109 yards and two picks, but he didn’t get any help whatsoever from his receivers.
It looked and played like a passing game that needs a wee bit to click, and then, look out.
Georgia Tech is still trying to adjust to the new offensive look and style, and it’s not going to start bombing away. The Yellow Jackets don’t have the Wisconsin offensive line or Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, but …

What’s Going To Happen
They will be able to run the ball this week. It won’t be the Paul Johnson era ground attack, but Georgia Tech needs to get the offense moving, and it starts on the ground.
There will be plenty of short-to-midrange passes, but Jordan Mason and company will grind out at least 250 yards to keep Barnett and the Bulls off the field. It won’t be the 49-38 shootout of last year – USF win – but it’ll be entertaining.
