Only 27 more days until Georgia’s college football season begins! The Bulldogs open the 2019 season at Vanderbilt. With under four weeks to go it won’t be long before number twenty-seven Eric Stokes Jr. takes the field.
Stokes Jr. is my pick for Georgia’s biggest breakout player in 2019. He figures to assume Deandre Baker’s role for the defense. Stokes Jr. made a big impact on the field last season and down the stretch earned key playing time. Now, Stokes Jr. will look to be Georgia’s number one cornerback. The redshirt sophomore had a pick-six in the G-Day game.
At 6’1″ and 185lbs. Stokes Jr. has impressive size for a cornerback. He also features elite speed and was one of Georgia’s fastest track athletes when he was in high school. Stokes Jr. won the most improved defensive player award for UGA in 2018. Look for him to continue on this path. He was snubbed from the All-SEC teams, so he’ll have some extra motivation coming into 2019.
