Georgia’s Cordy Glenn to play larger role for Bengals after Jonah Williams’ injury

Former Georgia Bulldog offensive tackle Cordy Glenn is going to need to step up for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019. He initially switched from tackle to guard after the Bengals selected Jonah Williams. Now, he may switch back to left tackle after Williams, the Alabama Crimson Tide product, suffered a severe shoulder injury:

The Bengals traded for Glenn during the 2018 off-season. Glenn has previously been successful as a left tackle for the Buffalo Bills, but was reportedly moving to left guard before today’s news. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport described the Bengals’ tackle situation before the Williams injury.

The Bengals selected Jonah Williams with the 11th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. Williams played LT at Alabama and had a successful season before the championship game vs. Clemson. Now, Williams will start his NFL career behind the eight ball. Williams will have the potential to make a lot more money as an NFL left tackle, but will face immediate pressure to perform when he returns from shoulder surgery.

With a proven NFL track record, Glenn deserves a chance at the starting left tackle role. He’s likely now the Bengals best option with Williams out.

Glenn will man the line with fellow Georgia Bulldog OL Clint Boling. The duo both started tons of games while wearing the red and black. The Bengals will play the Patriots this season in a game that may feature the most Georgia players in any NFL game ever.
