Georgia rises in recruiting rankings after adding Anthony Edwards

The Georgia men’s basketball program picked up the highest-rated commitment in its history Monday, with the addition of Anthony Edwards.

A five-star guard out of Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Edwards ranks No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 at the shooting guard position.  On top of this, the 6’5 Georgia commit is ranked No. 1 in the state.

Adding Edwards helped boost the Bulldogs in the 2019 recruiting rankings, all the way up to No. 12.  Per 247 Sports, the five-star guard, along with Jaykwon Walton and Toumani Camara gives Georgia an average of 0.9764 overall in recruiting, up from 0.9121 last year.

As of now, the Bulldogs also have the No. 3 class in the SEC, up from No. 7 in 2018.

If all three players sign with Georgia as expected, first-year head coach Tom Crean will have signed the No. 1, No. 7 and No. 13 Bulldog recruits in program history.

Edwards, excited about the program’s future, has high expectations.
