Georgia RB Brian Herrien has a message for unranked recruits: ‘Stars don’t matter’

For high school recruits who do not have those sought after stars next to their name, Georgia running back Brian Herrien is here to tell you not to worry.

“I didn’t have 3 or 4 or 5 stars nor did I care to get them, or attend those 247/Rivals, opening camps,” Herrien tweeted. “I played on my football team and made it to Georgia with 0 starts … stars & camps don’t matter.”

Herrien committed to Georgia as a 0-star recruit out of New Manchester High School in Douglasville, Georgia. He did not attend camps and he tweeted that he had no interest in how many stars followed his name on recruiting websites.

But he trained and played hard for his team, and the Georgia coaching staff recognized that.

After signing with Georgia in the class of 2016, Herrien said he suddenly earned three stars, and 247Sports ranked him as the No. 860 prospect in the country, 54th running back and 80th player in the state of Georgia.

Since coming to Georgia, Herrien has done everything asked of him. He may not be the most talented ball carrier on the roster, but he hurdles that with his work ethic, which the coaches have praised over the years.

In his three seasons at Georgia, Herrien has averaged 307 yards per game and has scored eight total touchdowns.
