Georgia OT caught the eyes of NFL draft scouts vs. Georgia Tech

Georgia Bulldogs star right tackle Amarius Mims caught the eyes of NFL draft scouts with his performance in Georgia’s 31-23 win over Georgia Tech. Mims displayed excellent footwork. He showed his abilities as both a pass blocker and run blocker.

Mims put together a few dominant pass blocking reps and did a good job of getting to the second level on a run play and a screen play. The 6-foot-7, 340-pound offensive tackle is not who opposing linebackers and defensive backs want to see in the open field. Mims demolished an unlucky Georgia Tech defender on a successful screen play to versatile wide receiver Dillon Bell.

Amarius Mims is expected to be one of the first offensive tackles selected in the 2024 NFL draft. Mims, a junior has an NFL draft decision to make, but if he keeps playing like this, then Georgia coaches will tell him to declare for the draft.

Mims is currently projected to be the No. 5 offensive tackle selected in the draft and the No. 23 player overall. Mims will face a massive challenge in the SEC championship against Alabama. The Crimson Tide have two edge defenders that are expected to be early picks in the NFL draft.

ESPN NFL draft expert Jordan Reid was very impressed with Mims’ performance against Georgia Tech.

Amarius Mims is in his first full season as a starter. He missed several weeks after suffering an ankle injury against South Carolina, but has made a significant impact on Georgia’s offensive line play since his return.
