Georgia officially announces promotion of Dan Lanning to DC and more

The Georgia football program has officially promoted Dan Lanning to the defensive coordinator position with Glen Schumann serving as co-defensive coordinator for the upcoming season.

Lanning will receive an annual salary of around $750,000 in his new role, while Schumann will get roughly $550,000 according to DawgNation.

Every returning assistant for 2019 will get a raise as well, with all of the coaching salaries as follows.

  • Todd Hartley: TE Coach $300,000
  • Dan Lanning: Defensive Coordinator / OLB Coach $750,000

  • Charlton Warren: DB Coach $600,000

  • Scott Fountain: Special Teams Coordinator $325,000

The two assistants’ promotions do not come as a surprise but were officially announced by the program Friday.  Lanning and Schumann will replace Colorado Buffaloes head coach Mel Tucker at the defensive coordinator position for Georgia.

Tucker left the Bulldogs following the SEC Championship game to become the Buffaloes’ next head coach after they fired Mike MacIntyre during the 2018 season.
