Much decorated at youth level when an amateur, Georgia O'Connor is about to enter boxing's paid ranks determined to resume her days of medalling glory.
Her golden years of 2017 and 2018 came to a shuddering halt for a variety of reasons but now Georgia has turned professional with Mark Clauzel and is working out daily at his Swalwell gym.
Still only 21, the hunger and desire to have pounding fists carry her as far as possible have come flooding back.
Born in Durham and originally trained by her father, O'Connor was crowned Commonwealth Youth Games champion in the Bahamas 2017 and became World Youth Games silver medalist the same year in another exotic location India.
The following year saw her take bronze in the Worlds and reach the quarter-finals of the Europeans. All after gaining bronze and silver in the Euros as a junior.
Her amateur career seemed gilt-edged assured but Georgia then hit the buffers.
"I was still training with the GB squad but I was isolated in Sheffield and seemed to be standing still," she told me. "I was pretty much inactive for a year, suffered an illness, and basically lost my way.
"However boxing is in my blood. I was watching girls I know fighting on TV and thinking to myself 'I can do that.'
"I've discovered a new lease of life. I was only 21 in February and I want to have a real crack at making it in the pro game."
Georgia lives in a tiny hamlet - "it's our house and a couple of sheep" - west of Durham and having given up working in an Italian cafe she is about to go to Northumbria University in September.
"I'm doing a law degree and I want to concentrate on that and on my boxing," she said. "This isn't a bit of fun. I'm giving it my all."
Clauzel tells me that he expects Georgia to go before the Boxing Board by the end of the month and will start her off at super welterweight before deciding what weight she will concentrate on.
Mark, a Geordie, runs both Swalwell ABC and a pro stable from the Vision Health and Fitness Club in Swalwell.
One of his pros, heavyweight Steven Hightower Robinson who stands all of 6ft 7in, is about to have his fourth paid fight after a good amateur career with Swalwell ABC. He has won all three so far.
Robinson signed a promotional deal with Pat Barrett’s Black Flash organisation and is to go again in Manchester on July 24.
While he has not been in fight action since February 29 he has not been short of high-quality ring time having sparred with world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
"AJ had seen Steve on line and his people got in touch to see if he would go and do some sparring," explained Clauzel.
"It was a great opportunity for him to go and experience sharing a ring with the heavyweight champion of the world."
