Besides Deandre Baker, Isaac Nauta, Mecole Hardman, Terry Godwin and the other Bulldogs in Indianapolis last week, it appears two Georgia rising juniors were invited to the NFL Combine.
According to ESPN, the NFL invited several highly regarded underclassmen to the NCAA Elite Football Symposium. Among those invited, were UGA sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm and sophomore offensive tackle Andrew Thomas.
The symposium was held at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis and provides guidance to elite undergraduates on how to properly prepare for the NFL and transition to life in the league. Presentations are made on how to handle NFL agents, contracts, money, branding and social media.
Other high potential first round draft choices who attended include the Alabama trio of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, linebacker Dylan Moses and wideout Jerry Jeudy, LSU safety Grant Delpit, Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown and Clemson running back Travis Etienne and linebacker Isaiah Simmons.
Thomas is one of the nation’s best returning offensive lineman. A two-year starter, he is a 2019 preseason Associated Press Second Team All-American.
Fromm’s 171.3 passer rating in 2018 was the fifth highest in the country and is second among returning quarterbacks. In his first two years at Georgia, he has led the Bulldogs to the National Championship game, two SEC Championship games and a Sugar Bowl berth.
Both Fromm and Thomas have two years of eligibility remaining and most likely will have a difficult decision at the end of next season.
