Georgia is Brett McMurphy’s new No. 1 team in the country

Georgia has done enough to convince college football expert Brett McMurphy that the Bulldogs should be ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Dawgs dominated Tennessee during the second half on Saturday night, and before that game they looked very good in a win over top-ten Notre Dame.

With Clemson and Alabama both on a bye week, McMurphy moved Georgia up to No. 1 on his Associated Press Top 25 ballot this week.

He mentioned the Dawgs have the slight edge atop his ballot right now, but did write that any of the top six schools have a real case to be No. 1.

I truly believe you could make an argument for any of those six teams as the nation’s best team up to this point based on either their domination of their opponents or top-25 wins/strength of schedule.

Here is his updated top-ten (Click here for full rankings):

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Clemson
  4. LSU
  5. Ohio State
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Florida
  8. Wisconsin
  9. Notre Dame
  10. Texas
