Georgia high in ESPN’s Football Power Index preseason top-10

There are 130+ days until the start of the 2020 college football season, but is it ever too soon to salivate over preseason rankings?

Well, maybe it is, if you’re…ya know…a Tennessee or South Carolina. But with Georgia near the top of every preseason rankings, why not enjoy it as much as you can? We’ve earned this.

On Wednesday, ESPN released its Football Power Index (FPI) preseason top-10, and Georgia came in at No. 3, behind Clemson and Alabama.

Checking in at No. 4 is LSU, Florida at 8 and Auburn at 9, giving the SEC a total of five teams in the FPI preseason top-10.

Here’s some info from ESPN on what exactly the FPI is.

According to ESPN, the FPI “is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.”

Nice to see Auburn continues to be college football’s most consistently overrated team. And is anyone really buying the Florida hype?
