Georgia football to wear two special patches in opening game at Vanderbilt

The Georgia football team will kick off its season next Saturday at Vanderbilt in a bit of a different look.

Though black jerseys or special alternate uniforms are highly unlikely to be worn, the Bulldogs will have two new patches on their jerseys, in addition to the new helmet bumpers seen earlier today, per Sportsnaut.com

With college football teams across the nation celebrating the game’s 150th anniversary, Georgia’s equipment staff already announced the team would be wearing this patch throughout the season.

However, we have now learned that the Bulldogs will be wearing an additional patch to support domestic violence awareness, through the SEC’s “Set the Expectation” campaign.

It has not yet been unveiled what the patches will look like, but each team will wear a different color. A teal patch represents awareness towards sexual violence, while a purple patch represents awareness for relationship violence.

We will update you with further information on the patches once we know more.
