Georgia Football Staffer, Ex-Steelers Linebacker Arrested for Reckless Driving, per Report

Former Steelers linebacker and current Georgia football player connection coordinator Jarvis Jones was arrested on Friday night for reckless driving and speeding, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Jones was booked into Athens-Clarke County Jail on Friday night, and was released just an hour later on a $2,400 bond. It’s unknown the exact speed Jones was driving, but the police report stated he was speeding at “maximum limits,” which typically means at least 20 mph over the speed limit.

In January, former offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car crash that, according to police, allegedly occurred when LeCroy was driving an SUV racing defensive lineman Jalen Carter. Following the incident, Carter faced charges of reckless driving and racing.

Since then, there have been 14 total citations or arrests issued to Georgia players for speeding and/or reckless driving, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Coach Kirby Smart said back in May that the players involved in these arrests were being punished by the team. It’s unknown what Jones’s punishment will be, if the team gives him one.

Jones played collegiate football at Georgia from 2010–12 before being drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played there until after the ‘16 season.
