Georgia football: Score, stat predictions for UGA vs Notre Dame

Tomorrow just might be the rowdiest Saturday in Athens in the town’s history.

At 8:00 p.m. ET, the Georgia Bulldogs will kickoff against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Athens from Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.

The Dawgs are currently favored by 14.5 points in the game, which will be aired nationally on CBS.

This is the Bulldogs first time playing the Irish at home, and is their strongest game of the season.  They’ll need to dig deep to beat a talented Notre Dame team to keep their quest for a national title alive.

Here are a few predictions ahead of Saturdays top-10 matchup.

Score: Georgia, 41 – 20

Over/Under 58: Over

Stats…

QB Jake Fromm:

18/26 passing, 270 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions

RB D’Andre Swift:

14 carries, 105 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns

RB Zamir White:

9 carries, 82 yards, 1 rushing touchdown

WR George Pickens:

5 catches, 75 yards, 1 receiving touchdown

WR Dom Blaylock:

4 catches, 67 yards, 1 receiving touchdown

WR Tyler Simmons:

2 catches, 44 yards

DB Eric Stokes:

1 interception

DL Nolan Smith:

2 sacks

LB Monty Rice:

8 tackles

K Rodrigo Blankenship:

2/2 field goals, 4/4 PATs

On Georgia’s first drive of the game:

On the Dawgs’ first drive of the game, expect Georgia to take a deep shot and try to get on the board early. Georgia will look to establish its run game and begin the long process of wearing Notre Dame’s defense down. This Irish defensive line is a good one, and one sack could be a drive killer for Georgia. Dawgs really do not want to take a sack on the first drive.

Georgia strikes first with an 8 yard touchdown pass to George Pickens from Jake Fromm.

On Notre Dame’s first drive of the game:

On the Irish’s first drive of the game, expect Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly to be aggressive with Ian Book testing the Dawgs’ secondary with a home run ball to set the tone of the game.  Kelly could look to a trick play to throw off Kirby’s defense as well as test the Dawgs young secondary early.

Notre Dame drives to midfield with the passing game before Georgia eventually forces a punt around the 50.
