Georgia football offensive line earns midseason award

The 6-1 Georgia Bulldogs have had a near perfect offensive line this year, sustaining their #1 rank in college football from preseason projections.  The Dawgs in the trenches got some well-deserved recognition, as Georgia’s offensive line was named to the Joe Moore Midseason Honor Roll on Tuesday, for their performance through the first half of the year.

The Bulldogs have been known to have a stellar offensive line, which helped to produce running backs such as Knowshon Moreno, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift, all in the past 10 years.

Just how good is this years Dawgs O-line though?  According to Football Outsiders, the Georgia offensive line ranks:

#1 in line yards per carry (3.30) (line gets credit for rushing yardage between 0-3 yards and 50% credit for yards 4-8. Anything over 8 yards is a highlight opportunity, credit goes to the runner)

#1 in standard downs line yards per carry (3.27) (first down, second-and-7 or fewer, third-and-4 or fewer, fourth-and-4 or fewer)

#5 in sack rate (2.3%)

#2 in opportunity rate (60%) (gain 4 yards when 4 yards are available)

#4 in stuff rate (11.8%).

The story these compiled ratings tell is that Georgia’s O-line hits their blocks, protects their quarterback and are some bad, bad boys.
