Georgia football HC Kirby Smart talks Lawrence Cager, Tyson Campbell injuries

With Georgia playing a top-ten Florida this Saturday in a win-or-go-home matchup, head coach Kirby Smart would be thrilled to be able to have two of his impact players back from injury.

No newcomer has made a bigger impact than Miami graduate transfer Lawrence Cager this season for Georgia. The 6-foot-5, 220 pound wideout has made a series of incredible plays and has made life a lot easier for Jake Fromm. However, Cager has been dealing with the lingering pain that came from separated shoulder, plus he also has injured ribs. Cager has not played since the the first half of Georgia’s loss to South Carolina. Smart sounded optimistic about Cager being able to go this weekend.

And then there’s cornerback Tyson Campbell, who is dealing with turf toe. He has not played since Georgia’s September 14th win over Arkansas State, but he did practice last week before being forced to slow down a bit.

“Cager, we’re expecting him to be able to practice today, he was able to run routes on Thursday,” Smart said at his Monday press conference. “As far as Tyson, he practiced last week, didn’t go as much Thursday as he did Wednesday, we had to back him down a bit.
