Georgia football announces signing of 5-star OT

Broderick Jones had been committed to Georgia since April of 2018, but today, almost two years later, Jones re-committed to the home state Bulldogs.

It was a solid win for Georgia, if that’s what you want to call holding on to a player who has been committed to your program for two years. But for Georgia to lose offensive line coach Sam Pittman to Arkansas and still retain its most coveted offensive line recruit, that’s a win in my book.

Jones was receiving strong interest from Auburn, especially during the end of his recruitment. In the final few weeks before signing, Jones paid a visit to Illinois and to Arkansas, but he canceled his trip to Auburn.

Illinois and Arkansas visits did not do much to scare Georgia fans – instead it was that Auburn trip that had us worried. So when works got out that Jones had canceled that trip, Georgia fans collectively let out a large sigh of relief.

Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 11 overall player in the class of 2020. He comes to Athens out of Lithonia, Georgia.
