It’s no secret that Georgia and Florida make up one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football. However, this doesn’t mean that their respective coaches can’t be civil with one another when they cross paths outside the gridiron.
Although many accused Mullen of making snarky comments about UGA throughout this past offseason, Mullen denies the accusations.
“Yeah, I don’t think there’s any trash talk,” Mullen said to a group of reporters. “I’ve been here a long time, seen a bunch of coaches come and go in there. Everyone has great pride, trying to do good for the SEC. We are the best league in college football and we try to do that and I know the commissioner does that.
I’ve seen [UGA coach Kirby Smart] in the summertime,” he said, “we have a lake house on the same lake, we’ve played golf… I’ve not hung around him much, but it’s always cordial.”
We should not, however, expect the meeting between their two teams to be as cordial when they face each other this Saturday.
