Georgia loses game after a fan throws a stuffed animal on court in final second

Well, this is something we’ve never seen before.

Georgia’s men’s basketball team lost to Mississippi State at home on Wednesday night thanks to a fan who threw a stuffed animal on the court with 0.5 seconds left in a tie game, causing Georgia to get called for a technical foul.

Seriously.

Here’s how it happened – Mississippi State’s Quinndary Weatherspoon was at the foul line in the final second. He missed a free throw attempt but while he was shooting a flying stuffed animal landed on the court. The refs talked about it for a little bit before issuing a technical foul against Georgia.

Weatherspoon already had another free throw coming but giving him an extra chance to hit the winner wasn’t a good idea, as he hit the technical for the 68-67 win:

Ouch.

Gotta love passionate fans but that was just a dumb move. And it cost the home team dearly.
