Georgia DL Jalen Carter will not be visiting the Commanders

Jalen Carter is not going to visit any NFL team that is not selecting in the top ten.

Carter’s character has been called into question after he was involved in an incident of racing and reckless driving which resulted in two people in another car dying.

Carter has denied to police that he was racing but then pleaded no contest. The former Georgia Bulldog defensive tackle weighed in at 315 at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Then only two weeks later, weighing in at 323, Carter struggled at times during his Pro Day workout.

His Georgia coach Kirby Smart defended his character, pointing to how Carter was injured against Oregon, then again against Missouri. “He probably could have shut it down. He decided to come back and play really for his teammates. I think that says a lot about his character in terms of what his competitive character is like and what he wants to do on the field for his teammates.”

Each team is permitted 30 visits of prospective draft selections excluding those from local universities or local players. Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has boldly proclaimed Carter will only visit teams slotted to draft in the top ten.

The Commanders own the 16th selection, and already having Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne signed for the next few years, it would be unlikely the Commanders would draft Carter, were he to fall back to 16th.

With Montez Sweat and Chase Young nearing the end of their contracts soon, the Commanders would more than likely choose an edge rusher before they would go inside tackle. Most analysts currently have them choosing an offensive tackle or cornerback at No. 16.

But notice how Rosenhaus is responding to the recent troubles of his client, Carter. Is he attempting a mental game to convince all teams drafting in the top ten they should want Carter? Is Rosenhaus creating a new draft floor for Carter? Is he is attempting to do all he can to prevent Carter from slipping out of the top ten?
