Georgia Bulldog named national player of the month

Georgia Bulldogs’ left tackle Andrew Thomas has been named a national player of the month. Thomas is projected to be a first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Outland Trophy named him their national player of the month:

Each month the award is given to the best offensive and best defensive lineman in the country. Interestingly, Thomas will face Auburn’s Derrick Brown in a two weeks. Brown plays defensive tackle primarily, but I bet they’ll line-up against each other at least once. Both players are making NFL scouts drool with their sound technique, excellent size, and superior athleticism.

Thomas will face one of his biggest challenges of the season when he faces the stout Auburn Tiger defensive line in a hostile environment. He and the Great Wall of Georgia were up for the task last week against Florida, where the offensive line didn’t give up a single sack. The UGA offensive line has only allowed four sacks all season.

The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best defensive or offensive interior lineman. Last season Alabama’s Quinnen Williams took home the award. Thomas is looking to become the second Georgia Bulldog to ever win the Outland Trophy. Bill Stanfill previously won the award for the Dawgs in 1968 as a defensive tackle.
