Georgia Basketball: Bulldogs fall to Tennessee

On Wednesday, February 10th, the Georgia Bulldogs (12-7) (6-6) traveled to Knoxville, TN to face the 16th ranked Tennessee Volunteers (14-4)(7-4).

Both teams were coming off wins in their previous game, with Georgia defeating Vanderbilt 73-70, and Tennessee defeating Kentucky, 82-71.

The Bulldogs were on a little hot streak as conference play rolled on, as they had won their past three games.

That changed Wednesday night. Tennessee defeated UGA by a score of 89-81.

The Dawgs put up a good fight, scoring 55 in the second half, but in the end the Vols were too much. Across the board, stats were pretty even, with teams rebounding, turnover and assist stats about the same, but Georgia struggled shooting on the night. UGA went 28/62 shooting and only connected on 5 of 19 from deep range.

Georgia’s leading scorer was guard K.D. Johnson, who finished with 22 points and went 9/15 from the field.

Tennessee guard Jaden Springer exploded for …. points and did a lot of work from the free throw line.

The Bulldogs and the Volunteers have very similar team strategies. They both are known for their willingness to share the ball, and it shows on the stat sheet. Each team has seven players averaging over eight points per game this season.
