Georgia Basketball begins SEC Media Days

Georgia Basketball’s preseason pre-tips off today as men’s head coach Tom Crean, senior guard Tyree Crump, and graduate transfer guard Donnell Greshman, Jr. appear in front of the local and national media members in Birmingham.

In a preseason poll of voting journalists, Georgia is projected to finish the regular season ninth out of fourteen SEC teams.

Crean’s first season in Athens ended with a record of 11-21, going 2-16 against SEC foes. He enters his second season having secured the commitment of Anthony Edwards, the second-ranked recruit of the 2019 high school class who is predicted to fall somewhere in the top three picks of the 2020 NBA Draft. Edwards was named to the preseason first team All-SEC team without yet participating in a college contest.

Tomorrow, women’s head coach Joni Taylor will be accompanied by junior guard Gabby Connally and senior forward Stephanie Paul in day two’s press conference.

Taylor’s team is predicted as finishing tenth out of fourteen in the same preseason poll. Now in her fifth season after succeeding Andy Landers, Coach Taylor holds a record of 81-44 in her first head coaching job. The teams looks to return to the ever-familiar NCAA tournament, missing a bid following last season’s 18-12 result.
