Georgia baseball learns its fate for NCAA Tournament

The Georgia baseball team fell 2-1 to Ole Miss Saturday in the first of two SEC Tournament semifinal games, sending the Bulldogs home from Hoover.

However, at 44-15, Georgia knew the objective heading into the week. While the Bulldogs were comfortable going into tournament play that a national seed was already locked up, an extra win or two would not hurt for Georgia.

The Bulldogs fought off 8 no-hit innings by Texas A&M on Tuesday to win on a walk-off two-run homer in the Bottom of the 9th inning. Then, Georgia knocked off the Arkansas Razorbacks, the No. 2 seed in this year’s SEC Tournament.

Coach Scott Stricklin’s bunch received a bye for Friday but ultimately fell in a 3-1 loss on Saturday, having to wait to find out its postseason fate back in Athens.

Now, the Dawgs are safely into the field, though it was never a question if Georgia would make it.

The complete NCAA Tournament 64-team field and Top 8 national seeds will be announced on Monday at 12:00 pm but as of now, we know the Dawgs will at least host a regional.

Not to worry, there is a very good chance the Dawgs wind up hosting supers as well, we just won’t find out until Monday.

Stay tuned to UGA Wire tomorrow afternoon as we break down the Bulldogs’ draw and a potential Super Regional spot.
