Georges St-Pierre will join the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.
St-Pierre (26-2 MMA, 20-2 UFC), the former UFC middleweight and welterweight champion, will join the modern-era wing of the UFC Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class.
“Georges St-Pierre is a pioneer of Canadian MMA who helped build the sport globally,” UFC president Dana White said. “He is the most famous athlete to ever come out of Canada and one of the greatest martial artists of all-time. We’re proud to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame Class of 2020.”
The French-Canadian retired from MMA in February 2019 following a historic career that not only included winning titles in two weight classes, but being one of the biggest stars in UFC history, and arguably the pound-for-pound best of all-time.
The UFC announced St-Pierre’s induction during Saturday’s UFC 249 broadcast.
Inside the cage, St-Pierre was close to flawless. He avenged his only two career losses against Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, and also become the first fighter in company history to reach 20 octagon wins.
Outside the cage, however, St-Pierre was just as impressive. He was the face of MMA in Canada, helping the UFC set a then-record attendance of more than 55,000 at UFC 129 in April 2011. Moreover, “Rush” never had the slightest hit of a scandal in his personal life.
All that equals up to an unprecedented place in MMA history, and now St-Pierre will be honored for it.
