Georges-Kevin Nkoudou lives on at Tottenham and Newcastle's Harry Kane chant - Moments missed

A day of landmarks

It was a day of landmarks at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday as Spurs hosted Newcastle United.

The fixture saw Mauricio Pochettino rack up his 500th game as a manger after first taking charge of Espanyol a decade ago.

Leaving the Barcelona-based club for Southampton in 2013, the Argentine was only at St Mary's for 18 months before becoming Spurs boss five years ago.

It certainly wouldn't have been the way he wanted to celebrate 500 games in management as his team slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the Magpies.

It was also a landmark day for Harry Kane as the game came eight years to the day since making his very first appearance for the club.

Starting in a 0-0 draw against Hearts in the Europa League, the striker has had a lot of ups and downs at the club on his way to becoming Spurs' main man.

Not the way he would have wanted to mark the occasion, the striker will be looking to bounce back in the perfect way next weekend against Arsenal.

Nkoudou lives on at Spurs

Last week saw the departure of Georges-Kevin Nkoudou at Spurs as he finally left the club on a permanent basis.

The Frenchman had endured a tough time in the capital since arriving from Marseille in 2016 and he was sent on loan to both Burnley and Monaco to get some regular first-team football under his belt.

Both moves never quite worked out for the player and it seemed a certainty that he would leave for good this summer with Pochettino shaking things up in terms of his squad.

While the player completed his move to Turkey on Thursday, some fans ahead of kick-off probably did a double take when looking at the back of the matchday programme and seeing his name still on the squad list.

Nkoudou is definitely a Besiktas player and the reason for his name still included on the programme would have been down to the fact he was still at Spurs when they went to print at the end of last week.

The winger actually made his first appearance for his new side on Friday night as he played the final 30 minutes in their 3-0 win over Goztepe in the league.

Watching on

A familiar face was in attendance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the game between Spurs and Newcastle.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was sat in one of the directors' boxes just behind the press seats to take in the match.

Watching on across the capital on Saturday as he took in the Championship game between Fulham and Nottingham Forest, the Portuguese manager this time made the trip to north London to cast his eye over another weekend fixture.

It certainly wasn't the most memorable match he's encountered but he will have enjoyed watching on as he looks for a new position in the game following his Manchester United departure back in December.

Newcastle fans have a chant for Harry Kane

It wasn't a good day for Kane as he couldn't help Spurs secure a second league win of the season.

Chances were at a premium for the England international throughout the 90 minutes as the Toon Army remained resolute at the back as the Lilywhites tried to find a way past them.

Kane has scored goals for fun for Spurs since making his debut eight years ago and one accolade he will be hoping to achieve over the coming years is to become the Premier League's all-time top goalscorer.

The frontman is currently 133 goals behind Alan Shearer's record of 260 and Newcastle fans made it perfectly clear what they thought of the striker in the second half as they chanted "you're just a s**t Alan Shearer" at Kane.

Given the striker later had a penalty appeal waved away by both Mike Dean and VAR, it was the Newcastle fans who had the last laugh.
