George North suffers yet another head injury during Wales vs France Six Nations clash

George North suffered yet another head injury during Wales' Six Nations clash against France in Cardiff.

Lions winger North, who has a history of concussion issues, collided with the elbow of France's Gael Fickou in an accidental clash just after the 10-minute mark while each attempting to collect Dan Biggar's cross-field kick.

North appeared to be unconscious as he lay motionless on the turf with medics rushing to his assistance.

He seemed to come round after a few seconds and was tended to before being replaced by Johnny McNicholl. It was later confirmed he would not return to the action.

North suffered four head injuries in the space of five months between November 2014 and March 2015, experiencing several bouts of concussion.

He took five months out of the game in 2015 with then girlfriend Becky James, now married to the Wales flier, revealing his speech had been affected.

Another incident in 2016 sparked controversy when North appeared to be knocked out following a mid-air collision while playing for Northampton.

Despite his history of head injuries, he was allowed to return to the action, triggering an investigation by World Rugby, which found he should not have been given the option to play on.

Wales went down 27-23 to France in the Six Nations fixture.
