George Michael's haunting new track tells of booze and drugs and trying to get life together

Late George Michael sung about booze, drugs and getting life together in an unheard song.

The Wham! hitmaker passed away aged 53 in the early hours of Christmas day in 2016.

As it approaches three years since his death, his previously unheard song This Is How We Want You (To Get High) has been made public.

It is the chart-topping singer's first music to be shared in seven years since 2012.

The chilling chorus focused on the idea of trying to rebuild the destruction in the person's life.

George could be heard singing: "I will always / I will always / I will always / try to get my life together."

Sadness struck the listener as the singer remarked he is "dreaming of a sunnier day" that "never came".

Also, George penned lyrics about the allure of getting high because of the "sorry" state of life.

The lyrics read: "This is how we want to get high / This is how we want you to get by / On your sorry lives."

Recently, Elton John claimed his friend no longer wanted to be here anymore as he struggled with his drug and emotional demons.

It is not made clear whether George is singing about his own personal experiences.

The new song comes after Elton said his friend didn't want to live any longer.

It was ruled the Wham! star's cause of death was a "dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver".

But the Your Song star, 72, claimed Michael "did not want to be here" as he battled with his emotions and drug demons.

Elton made several attempts to help Michael get help in rehab in the final decade of his life which the late singer resisted.

Recently, the musician reflected on being unable to lend a helping hand to his friend in the same way he had to Robbie Williams and Donatella Versace.

Elton told The Mirror: “He couldn’t get it, George. And he resented the fact that I had hinted that maybe he change his life a little bit and he’d be happier if he tried something else.

"The person has actually got to want it. It’s like me in the end; I really wanted it.

"I had two alternatives: one, to die, and one to live, and I wanted to live. But that’s the difference if you want it, and poor George didn’t want it.”
