George Graham shows true Arsenal colours with trophy jibe at Tottenham before North London Derby

George Graham is one of the few people to cross the North London divide.

And, in all fairness, one of even fewer to have at least some semblance of mutual respect from both clubs.

Graham was an Arsenal legend, steering the Gunners to two league titles, one FA Cup win, two League Cups and European glory in the Cup Winners' Cup during a nine-year reign as manager.

But, he did sour his relationship with the Arsenal fans somewhat when accepting the job at fierce north London rivals Tottenham in 1998.

And even though times were tough at White Hart Lane, the Scot did guide Spurs to League Cup triumph in 1999 - their first trophy since the 1991 FA Cup and one of only two trophies they have won since then.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho lauds Harry Kane's ambition

It is the big game this weekend as the North London Derby is played out once more at the Emirates Stadium.

Spurs sit seven points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League table, knowing that a win would all-but ensure they finished above their rivals once again this season, with only ten games to go after it.

However, it is in the trophy stakes where Spurs continue to trail their rivals and Graham could not resist a jibe at Spurs in the build-up to the highly-anticipated contest, nailing his colours well and truly to the Arsenal mast before kick-off.

Speaking to our friends at the Express to preview the clash, Graham spoke of his time at Spurs saying, with a chuckle: "I had a good time at Spurs and won a trophy there, which is unusual.

"We were also in the FA Cup semi-finals when they sacked me, but in the end, it was just football. He thought somebody else was better for the job."

It is a comment which is sure to rile the Spurs fans, many of whom never warmed to him because of his Arsenal background, despite the trophy win.
