George Ford will hope to inspire England to victory over Ireland in Dublin
(Picture: Getty Images)George Ford has encouraged England to “leave it all out there” when they face Ireland in Dublin in their final Six Nations match before leaving the bio-secure bubble where they have spent the last two months.
Ford’s England and Leicester team-mate Ellis Genge spoke this week about the “psychological toll” that life inside the bubble had taken on players.
England began their campaign with a poor performance in defeat to Scotland, but have travelled to Dublin on the back of an excellent win against France at Twickenham.
Ford, a senior leader in England’s team, has called on the side to throw everything at Ireland in the knowledge that they will not be together in camp for some time – with the Lions tour this summer – and family time awaits.
“We want to leave it all out there regardless,” he said. “It's our last game together for a while. We spoke about all those sort of things to make sure we make the most of it.
“In terms of emotionally leaving it out there, we will be doing that as a team. It has been almost nine weeks now of being under these Covid restrictions and there are lads with families and kids.
“People miss home very much, so I imagine the thought of being able to go back to family and loved ones is nice.”
