George Floyd's sister says 'police murdered him' as new arrest footage emerges

New footage has emerged showing the moment a black man in the US was pulled over by police just before his tragic death.

George Floyd, 46, was seen pleading that he couldn't breathe as a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck for several minutes.

The father-of-two was taken to hospital where he later passed away, sparking outrage in the US and around the world.

His sister has blamed for the police for his death, with the FBI confirming it had launched an investigation.

In the latest video of the incident, two police officers can be seen removing George from his car before placing him in handcuffs.

He appears to be complying with the officers and not resisting arrest.

The new footage takes place before the original clip, which emerged on Monday, showing George lying face down in the street, gasping for air and groaning, "I can't breathe," while the officer knelt on his neck for several minutes.

Hours after police announced four officers involved in the incident had been sacked on Tuesday, thousands of protesters filled the streets around the scene of his death calling for them to be charged.

George's sister Bridgette has also called for justice for her brother, saying the sackings was not enough.

She told ABC's Good Morning America: "They murdered my brother. They killed him. They need to apply more pressure on these guys. Firing them is not enough."

"It was nine minutes on his neck," Attorney Benjamin Crump, retained by Floyd's family, told ABC.

"Just imagine what George Floyd endured for those nine minutes, begging for breath, begging for life."

The officers involved in the incident were responding to a report of a forgery in progress, and found a man fitting the suspect's description in a car, according to a police department account.

Celebrities and athletes have joined those condemning George's death, the latest in a series of deaths of black men during incidents involving white cops.

Basketball star LeBron James posted on Instagram referring to Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback who famously kneeled during the US national anthem to protest against racial injustice.

The post includes a photo of the officer pinning his knee on Floyd's neck alongside a photo of Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem while a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

It was topped with the caption "This... Is Why."

James, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, also wrote in the post "Do you understand NOW!!??!!??

"Or is it still blurred to you?? #StayWoke".

Others in the sports world voiced their outrage over the incident that is likely to add fuel to the "Black Lives Matter" movement created following a series of US police killings of unarmed black men.

"Worlds honestly sickening. It really is..... no explanation," Odell Beckham Jr., a three-time Pro Bowl NFL receiver who plays for the Cleveland Browns, wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile Snoop Dogg shared a meme of Kaepernick bending the knee alongside the officer kneeling on George, along with: "No justice just us."

Pop star Madonna shared the full 10-minute video of George’s horrific arrest and penned a lengthy message calling for action to be taken against police brutality.

She said: "Watching this Cop suffocate George Floyd with his knee on his neck, handcuffed and helpless, crying for his life with his face in the street is the most sickening, heartbreaking thing ive seen in a long time [sic].

"This Officer knew he was being filmed and murdered him with arrogance and Pride. ‘This has to stop!! Until we can over come Racism in America— no one should be allowed to carry a gun. Most of all cops [sic].

"God Bless you George Floyd Im so sorry for you and your family. And all the senseless killings that have gone before you. Will it ever end? I pray to GOD it does one day.

"Until then—F**k The Police! Yea I said it. Im not interested in being PC. Im interested in Justice [sic]."
