George Floyd protests - live: Tear gas fired at DC protesters as Trump threatens to deploy military across the country

The three other former Minneapolis Police Department officers are expected to be criminally charged in the connection to George Floyd's death, the family attorney said. Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter four days after video footage showed his knee placed on Mr Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes. The other officers at the scene have yet to be charged.

The latest development comes after Donald Trump sparked backlash for his Rose Garden address on Monday that then resulted in him walking to St John's Episcopal Church for a photo op. Bishops spoke out against the moment, revealing armed police officers removed priests from the building without forewarning for the president's event.

Donald Trump also threatened to deploy the military if state governors do not bring an end to ongoing violent protests across the United States, as the European Union announced it was "shocked and appalled" by police "abuse of power" in the country.
