George Edmundson wanted for permanent Rangers transfer exit as Ipswich Town make their move

Ipswich Town are pushing ahead in their bid to land Rangers defender George Edmundson on a permanent deal

The League One side are huge admirers of the 23-year-old and they and are offering him a three-year deal.

Edmundson faces an uncertain future at the Ibrox side and they are happy to entertain offers if they meet their valuation.

Derby County are also keen on the central defender but their perilous situation means they are only able to offer a loan deal.

Edmundson spent the second half of last season at the Rams and he impressed boss Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United legend wants a reunion with the Englishman but he’s restricted by Derby’s transfer embargo.

Rangers team-mate Jordan Jones is also attracting interest from England with Wigan Athletic poised to make a move.

Edmundson has slipped down the pecking order at Rangers after the return of Nikola Katic from a serious knee injury.

He arrived from Oldham in the summer of 2019 but he failed to establish himself as a first-team regular despite some encouraging early performances.
